Wordpress DoFollow Plugin

As part of my Article Discovery Politics makeover I’ve just installed and activated the Semiologic Wordpress Dofollow Plugin.

What this means to you is when you comment on this site the little spiders that visit here every day will track you down.

Now, don’t be alarmed. These are friendly spiders from Google, Yahoo, MSN, and the like, who are eager to find your web pages.

So all you have to do to get a little link love is to leave a decent on topic comment. I say decent comment as saying “nice site”, “have a good day”, or “I hate your writing” will not cut it.

What I’m looking for is a comment that will add another point or two to the posting. You can agree with me or disagree, that isn’t the issue. Just make an appropriate comment and I will approve it and unleash the spiders.

Note that Top Commentators are also listed on the sidebar.  Why not make an insightful comment and see your dofollow linked name appear on the list?

If you would like the easy to install Dofollow plugin for your own Wordpress blog just head on over to Semiologic.

Let’s keep that link love flowing.

Site Theme Change

As those of you who have been visiting this site for awhile will quickly notice I have changed the theme of Article Discovery Politics.

I would like to give a big thanks to Maki at DoshDosh and to Dan at The Wrong Advices for the use of their great new Wordpress theme Prosense.

I like the clean look of Prosense as well as the SEO work that has gone on behind the scenes.

Maki and Dan are experts at SEO work as you can tell by the Alexa ranking of their websites.

Prosense has also been cleverly laid out for Adsense ads. You can control what is shown where by using seven separate ad boxes that you can easily access from the Wordpress presentation feature. If you like you can replace Adsense ads with Affiliate ads or use some of each.

I am using the built in Prosense flexibility along with the Wordpress plug-in “Adsense Deluxe” to control Adsense ads. If I don’t want Adsense ads to appear at certain preset locations I can just delete the code in the separate ad fields. I can then easily use Adsense Deluxe to insert Adsense in individual posts.

I’ve just finished the change over from the old Wordpress theme so am sure I still have a little tweaking to do here and there. However, so far all has been pretty easy to set up.

What do you think of the new look?

Wordpress Top Post Category Plugin

As all of you Wordpress users know there are a million useful plugins available for Wordpress. Well, not quite a million but quite a lot.

One of the more useful is the Top Post Category plugin which can be seen busily working away in the right sidebar. As with most Wordpress plugins Top Post Category can be installed and put to good use within a few minutes.

There is a good description of the features and installation instructions at Macalua.Com , one of many neat and useful blogs I discovered as a participate in the Dosh Dosh Technorati Experiment. There is also a zip file download link.

The Top Post Category will keep your best posts as active pages long after they have rolled off your main page. This provides deep linking into your blog and will gain increased exposure for your popular posts.

As you know folks on the Internet are usually in a big hurry. The Top Posts feature will allow your visitors to quickly locate your best posts as measured by popularity.

Hopefully, if you are providing great content this will give them more incentive to revisit time and time again.

In addition, Top Post provides another benefit to you as a blog publisher. When you enable the visits to each posts counter you can see at a glance which posts are gaining the most attention. This can help you to better write about topics that are of the most interest to your readers.

I recommend Top Posts for any Wordpress blog that has its own domain.
