LASIK Surgery Success Stories

by Eye Saver

In the last 10 years LASIK corrective eye surgery has become very widespread. We have now seen super star athletes use LASIK. These stars depend on their eyes to make a living.

LASIK surgery seems like a scary proposition. Can’t you go blind? Well, there is some risk. Let’s see what has happened to some athletes that have had the surgery.

The biggest name that comes to mind is Tiger Woods. Can’t think of anyone bigger. He had LASIK done in 1999 to shed his contacts and improve his vision. He now sees at an impressive 20-15 without his contacts.

Baseball is one of the sports where your vision is hyper important. Seeing the ball coming at 100 mph and hitting it with a bat is quite a vision related challenge. Many baseball players have now had LASIK surgeries, hoping to see that ball better.

Even pitching needs good vision. Greg Maddox had LASIK surgery and turned around a 1-3 start into a 9 out of 10 game winning streak. His vision is 20-15 these days.

Greg feels the win streak and the surgery were pure coincidence. He never felt it would improve his pitching. He wanted to get rid of his glasses, and see better for his off field life.

Many hitters have now had LASIK done. All-star players Jeff Bagwell and Bernie Williams are two that have had the surgery. It’s hard to see statistically how it has affected them because they are late in their careers with outstanding stats.

More interesting is to here from these athletes. Greg Maddox says that even something as simple mundane as watching TV is much more enjoyable now. Bernie Williams feels like he’s received a miracle in his life.

Tiger Woods opted for the surgery mainly to not have to wear contacts. He can have trouble playing in contacts whenever his allergies would flare up. LASIK has solved this problem for him.

Tiger felt everything was bigger, clearer, and closer than before the surgery. He feels this benefits him most in reading long putts. He sees the slopes in the greens in more detail, allowing him to see the line better.

With so many athletes trusting there livelihoods to this surgery, us normal people can have confidence that it’s safe. These guys are risking millions of dollars if things go bad. This operation has improved the quality of life for many. Many people.
