How to Look For Jobs Using the Internet

Job hunting can now be done online and it’s so easy you can just relax in front of your computer instead of going out in your business attire and dropping in at every company. Clicks, double clicks, and your trusty resume are the only requirements for this. Here are some useful guides in finding a job using the Internet.

Use the basic search engine search:

Don’t ever underestimate the power of search engines. Most companies nowadays post their job vacancies online for more publicity and also to gain more applicants who have the necessary qualifications they need. They also do this in order to speed up the prospective employee hunt process.

Take advantage of this and search for job vacancies with the search engine of your choice. Necessary keywords should be the state or city you want to be employed in and the word job opportunities. You could also put the specific line or specialty in the keywords as well.

Utilize job search websites:

There are many helpful websites dedicated for job seekers to make their hunt easier. Take job search websites for example, such as careerbuilder.com and careers.org. These websites operate with the employers and the job seekers. Basically employers will post their job vacancy on that website with the necessary information for the position and the job seeker will apply. If the employer thinks you are worthy of an initial interview, they will send an e-mail or call you. No sweat, isn’t it?

These websites usually require free registration in order for the users to upload their resume and provide necessary information.

Join local online communities:

Interaction with fellow job hunters will lead you to your dream job. So why not join local online communities such as a forum with a job seeker portion. Some employers also visit these sites in order to gain publicity for their job opportunities. Moreover, some members of these communities also provide information about recent job openings which could help you find that job you’re looking for.

Most of these communities require registration without a fee. Interaction and inquiry with the members in the forum about the job you desire will help you get a job, as some of them have valuable information they can share about job opportunities.

No sweat at all:

If all these are covered, your job hunting will be tons easier than personally walking inside companies. The Internet makes all of this very convenient and saves you a lot of money, as well as time. However, you still need a well written resume that points out your best skill sets and reasons why the company should hire you.

Bush Waterboy General Petraeus Gets Promotion

The ever loyal to President George Bush one General David Petraeus is named as the next U.S. Central Command Chief, in a statement by Robert Gates, US Secretary of Defense.

General Petraeus, age 55, will replace the outspoken and talented Admiral William Fallon. Admiral Fallon retired last month after a running dispute with the Bush administration over perceived policy differences on Iran hit the fan with a Fallon interview article that was published in Esquire Magazine.

In the article Fallon stated that he thought having dialogue with Iran would be more constructive at relaxing tensions with Iran rather than continuing with the Bush approach of issuing a series of threats. This line of thinking did not go over at all well with the Bush Whitehouse.

In addition, there were rumors that Fallon had clashed with Petraeus over whether to draw down troop levels in Iraq. Even thought Fallon was his boss Petraeus had the full backing of the Bush Whitehouse on carrying out the surge policy in Iraq. Petraeus was probably effective at making an end run around Fallon and communicating directly with Robert Gates and President Bush on this issue.

Petraeus is probably best known to most Americans from his appearances on national TV and the C-Span Channel in testifying before the US Senate about conditions in Iraq. Petraeus testimony said almost exactly what the Bush administration wanted to hear about the surge and the “improvement” in conditions in Iraq. Petraeus appeared with Robert Gates with a multitude of colored charts showing how well the surge was working.

Some might say that Petraeus’s testimony was a bit too accommodating to the Whitehouse. But what is an ambitious General to do when placed in such a situation? His testimony was politicized from the get go as he became in effect the President’s waterboy before congress. Petraeus had the credibility that the President’s civilian cabinet members and staffers did not have.

One might argue about the wisdom of politicizing the testimony of a career military officer in such a manner but for General Petraeus, the loyal trooper, it has certainly paid off. Bush does not like to hear opinions that are not in line with his own. So Petraeus has his reward and Admiral Fallon, said to have been one of the brightest strategic thinkers and planners in the US military, is in early retirement.

Carrying the President’s water does have its privileges and benefits. General Petraeus is a smart ambitious career Army officer and had that figured out long ago.

Clinton Campaign Staff Disorder Shows Lack of Leadership

The Clinton campaign staff disorder, infighting, and frictions shows a lack of leadership ability by non other than the presidential candidate that the staff is expected to promote to victory, one Hillary Clinton.

Yes, I know it has been a long and difficult political campaign and that Hillary has been busy attending fundraisers and at making speeches. However, for the campaign staff to have disintegrated as described in The New Republic  article clearly shows a lack of leadership ability right from the top.

As an old New York saying goes “the fish stinks from the head”. The Clinton campaign will be a stinking mess if Hillary loses in Pennsylvania or even if she has a close victory. This is not a game of horseshoes and these days close doesn’t count much for Hillary Clinton.

The United States will have suffered eight years of poor leadership by the time George W. Bush leaves office. We can not afford at least four more years of poor leadership from someone who can not even properly manage a campaign staff, much less a government.
