Ron Paul for President 2008
Ron Paul is beginning to gain some traction in his bid for the 2008 Republican Presidential nomination. He is also beginning to raise more money and with no debts incurred actually has more cash to spend than the early front runner John McCain.
Ron Paul is a US House of Representatives Congressman representing the 14th District of Texas. More importantly he is the ONLY Presidential candidate and the ONLY congressmen whose policies are consistent and that make any sense.
Ron Paul feels that the size and spending of the US government is out of control. He feels that trying to be the policemen of the world is reckless, dangerous, and is going to bankrupt the United States. He cites the deployment of US troops in Europe more than 60 years after the end of WW Two. He also notes the deployment of troops in Korea more than 50 years after the armistice was signed.
Dr Paul, who was an US Air Force flight surgeon in the 1960’s, wants to restore liberties to the American people that the present and recent past generations of American Presidents, aided by a corrupt congress, have stripped away. He also wants to abolish the IRS and the oppressive and abusive income tax for individuals.
In addition, Paul thinks that the Federal Reserve bank should be abolished. The Fed thinks that it knows how best to manage your money even while all the time it insures that the value of your financial assets are constantly losing value due to planned inflation.  As the present sub prime mortgage disaster perfectly illustrates the Fed is as much as a cause of financial difficulties in the economy as the cure.  Â
Ron Paul’s opponents try to portray Dr Paul as a crackpot who has crazy ideas. Yet Ron Paul is the ONLY Republican candidate who opposed the Iraq war from the get go. He is the only Presidential candidate, Republican or Democrat, who has the guts to say that the United States has overreached in it’s desire to dominate the world and that it is time for us to take care of our own business at home.
Ron Paul is the ONLY candidate whose policies make real sense. Just listen to the rascal candidates of both parties. Money, power, and pride seem to be their interests, not in realistically addressing the considerable challenges faced by the United States.
Even Barack Obama, who says he opposed the Iraq war, but now says since we already have troops in the region should we receive “actionable intelligence” we have the right to and should attack insurgents within Pakistan, even without the consent of the Pakistani government.
In the international community that is still considered an act of war.  What if Venezuela thought it had actionable intelligence indicating that the US was planning to assassinate its President Hugo Chavez and launched a preemptive strike against US bases in Florida?
Yes, everyone would agree that would be a crazy thing for Venezuela to do as the United States would most certainly declaire the attack an act of war and immediately respond. But do we even want to consider that Venezuela has the right to attack us because they at some point think that they have actionable intelligence?Â
I doubt it. Â That sounds really crazy doesn’t it? Yet one of our leading politicians and candidate for president, Barack Obama, says as President that type of action is not only OKÂ but that he would order it carried out.Â
Not Ron Paul. He states that under no circumstances is a nation entitled to attack another on the basis of what they think they know. As we know our intelligence community comes up short at times and gets things entirely wrong. Just look at the Iraq mess as an example.
What Obama is saying then is that he supports President Bush’s preemptive strike policy, where Bush says that the US has the right to strike any nation at any time if we THINK they may be acting against US interests. A preemptive first strike policy is the stuff that second rate dictators and the Hitlers of the world believe in. Ron Paul has the guts to call it what it is, a guaranteed recipe for constant wars, and a sure fire way to always be involved in a disaster of our own making.
Once considered a candidate with no chance at all of winning, Ron Paul has gained a lot of traction on the Internet. Now he needs to expand that traction off the net. As good American voters hear the same old nonsense from the largely corrupt, tired, and sound bite driven comments from the old business as usual candidates from both parties there is a good chance that reason will prevail and that Ron Paul will become a seriously competitive candidate.
Ron Paul makes sense. None of the other candidates do. Take a good close look at Dr. Ron Paul and compare his statements and positions to that of the other candidates.
America badly needs Ron Paul in the White house. Time is running out for the America that I grew up with. In fact it no longer exists. Only Ron Paul speaks with courage and acknowledges what so many Americans feel deep down inside, that the American government has become too big, too uncaring, too unresponsive, too wasteful, too controlled by special interest groups, too aggressive, and now with widespread domestic spying systems running 24/7 too dangerous even for the welfare of its own citizens.
Look at Paul’s record. Listen to what he has to say. You will be impressed.
